FEG Investment Advisors Announces Membership in the STREAM Foundation to Increase Opportunities in Asset Management for Students from Historically Underrepresented Groups

Press Release | February 4, 2022

FEG Investment Advisors (FEG), today announced its membership in the STREAM Foundation (STREAM), a Dallas-based nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening racial equity in asset management by providing internship opportunities to students from underrepresented groups. FEG is one of 20 asset managers across the country participating in the program and hosting 2022 internships to undergraduate students.

Founded in 2020, STREAM’s mission is to educate, train, mentor and provide scholarship and internship opportunities to students from underrepresented groups in the area of asset management, with the ultimate goal of increasing industry representation. STREAM’s internship program has more than doubled since its first year, growing from hosting six interns in 2021 to 20 in 2022.

“With just 1.3% of U.S. financial assets managed by women or underrepresented groups today, we are proud to support the STREAM Foundation and their mission of increasing diversity in the asset management community by enhancing access to industry internships for students in the Dallas community,” said President and CEO of FEG Investment Advisors, Becky Wood. “We have been happy to host our STREAM intern who will be with the organization during the summer semester and look forward to continuing to build upon our partnership with STREAM to improve the accessibility of career opportunities in asset management.”

FEG’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee identified and initiated the relationship with STREAM, and the HR department is leading the program for FEG. For 2022, FEG has committed to a STREAM intern on the Research team.

“We have been thrilled to have FEG join us as an internship host for our 2022 STREAM internship program,” said Ellis Thomas, Executive Director & Co-Founder of STREAM. “By partnering with asset management organizations like FEG to improve access to internship and mentorship opportunities within the asset management industry for historically underrepresented groups, we hope to make a lasting, positive change in our industry and strengthen racial equity.”

For more information about STREAM and careers in the asset management industry, STREAM will also be holding their 2022 STREAM Student Summit, on February 18 in the Crum Auditorium at Southern Methodist University. Quincy Brown, Senior Vice President at FEG will be speaking on a panel at the event. To learn more, please see here.
