Steve Johnston serves as FEG’s chief human resource officer and is responsible for all policies and procedures related to FEG employees. Additionally, Steve ensures the office space is operating smoothly and oversees any construction projects or leases with the office. Steve strives to build open and honest relationships with all FEG employees, as he believes caring about those around him fosters opportunities for growth and learning.

 

Steve began his career as the director of management training at Union Central Life Insurance—now known as Ameritas—before his promotion to vice president of human resources. Steve takes tremendous pride in remembering the name of every employee within the organization, viewing this as the first step in building strong connections with others. This people-first attitude drove Steve to launch his own HR consulting firm, Your Infinite Possibilities, where, coincidentally, FEG was his first client.

 

In addition to his position on the FEG Leadership Team, Steve is an FEG Culture Committee member, a past president of the Association for Talent Development, a certified executive coach and master trainer, and has even published a training program on performance management. Steve is also an active member in his community. He has volunteered with the West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance as a mentor for their Leadership 21 program since 2015 and he works closely with the C3 Community Caring Collaborative, where he helps to better his community in a multitude of ways. 

 

Steve received his undergraduate degree in natural resources from The Ohio State University and his Master of Education from the University of Cincinnati.

When Steve is not connecting with others at the office, he loves to cook breakfast or brunch foods, golf, and create woodworking masterpieces. If you ask Steve about one of his fondest memories, he will reminisce on his three-month backpacking trip through Europe in which he had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. This adventure highlights Steve’s capacity to connect with anyone, even if they do not share a language.
