Nolan Bean, CFA, CAIA
Head of Portfolio Management, Chief Investment Officer
Nolan Bean is Chief Investment Officer and Head of Portfolio Management at FEG and a member of the firm’s Leadership Team and Board of Directors. He is responsible for leading FEG’s portfolio management efforts, overseeing investment decision-making across client portfolios, and helping ensure a consistent investment experience for clients. As a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and Portfolio Management Team, Nolan works closely with FEG’s research professionals to evaluate investment opportunities, develop portfolio strategies, and guide the implementation of investment decisions.
Nolan joined FEG in 2004 after beginning his career as a Financial Advisor with Waddell & Reed Financial Services. During his career at FEG, he has worked closely with institutional investors and advised numerous chief investment officers, helping shape his perspective on portfolio construction, governance, and the management of long-term pools of capital. Earlier in his career, he participated in the Kauffman Entrepreneur Internship Program while earning his MBA, gaining exposure to venture capital and entrepreneurial investing. His leadership and commitment to excellence have helped shape FEG’s investment culture and portfolio management approach.
Nolan earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati. He is a member and past president of the CFA Society Cincinnati and serves on the Board of Directors of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Cincinnati. He also serves on the Editorial Committee of the Academy for Institutional Investors and on the Seven Hills School Board of Trustees, where he chairs the Investment Committee. A Nebraska native who grew up in Columbus, Ohio, Nolan earned a baseball scholarship to Georgetown College and remains an avid sports and music enthusiast. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, attending concerts, and following his favorite artists, including John Prine.
