Robert Durden is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO). As CEO, he provides leadership for all aspects of the organization’s operations and serves as UVIMCO’s primary representative to the University of Virginia, affiliated foundations, and the broader investment community. As CIO, he oversees the management of UVIMCO’s Long Term Pool, including asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management, and investment manager selection.

 

Prior to joining UVIMCO, Robert served as Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at Texas Children’s Hospital, where he oversaw approximately $3 billion in foundation and institutional investment assets. Earlier in his career, he was Managing Director of Private Investments at Morgan Creek Capital Management, directing approximately $4.5 billion across private equity, energy and natural resources, and real estate investments. He also held investment and advisory roles with Legg Mason/Western Asset Management, Ritchie Capital Management, and Merrill Lynch’s Middle Market Mergers & Acquisitions group.

 

Robert earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, magna cum laude, from Princeton University and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Entrepreneurship, with honors, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
