Managing Director, Portfolio Management - Private Capital

Nathan Werner is a Managing Director in Portfolio Management – Private Capital at FEG, where he is responsible for portfolio construction, manager selection, and investment decision-making across private market portfolios. He works closely with FEG’s research team to source and evaluate investment opportunities and helps guide the implementation of private capital strategies that support clients’ long-term objectives. With more than 25 years of experience in investment management and research, Nathan brings deep expertise in private markets and long-term portfolio management.

 

Prior to joining FEG in 2005, Nathan served as a Senior Research Analyst at Irwin Management Company, a multi-generational family office, where he focused on investment analysis and manager research. Throughout his career, he has worked across a broad range of private investment strategies, helping evaluate opportunities, manage portfolio risk, and support long-term capital deployment decisions. His research-driven approach and extensive experience in private markets provide valuable perspective in portfolio construction and investment implementation.

 

Nathan earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from DePauw University. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations. Outside of work, Nathan enjoys traveling with his wife and three sons and has visited 17 national parks and numerous international destinations with his family.
