Accounting Manager

Katie Smith is an experienced accounting and finance professional with more than 15 years of progressive experience across investment management, private equity support operations, hospitality, and business media industries. Since joining Fund Evaluation Group (FEG) in 2013, she has played an integral role in the firm’s accounting operations and financial reporting functions, earning a reputation for accuracy, analytical thinking, and operational excellence. In 2024, she was promoted to Accounting Manager in recognition of her leadership, technical expertise, and long-standing contributions to the firm.

At FEG, Katie oversees key components of the monthly financial close process, balance sheet reconciliations, revenue accruals, OCIO billing operations, and financial reporting support for the firm’s private opportunity funds. She works closely with executive leadership on audit preparation, intercompany accounting, compensation-related accruals, and strategic financial reporting initiatives that support both operational and regulatory needs. Her current focus includes improving accounting processes, ensuring financial integrity, and supporting the firm’s continued growth through scalable and efficient reporting practices.

Prior to joining FEG, Katie served as a Staff Accountant for Commonwealth Hotels, a subsidiary of Corporex Capital, where she managed accounting and financial operations for multiple hotel properties across the United States. Earlier in her career, she worked for Summit Business Media, a leading publisher and information provider serving the insurance and financial services industries, where she contributed to general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

Katie earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and her MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is known for her collaborative approach, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex financial responsibilities while building strong working relationships across organizations.
