John Overath, CFA, CAIA
Associate Vice President, Research Analyst - Real Assets
John Overath is an Associate Vice President of Research at FEG, where he focuses on sourcing, evaluating, and monitoring both public and private real asset investment opportunities. He supports investment decision-making across client portfolios through manager research, due diligence, and market analysis, while also providing educational insights on real estate, infrastructure, natural resources, and other real asset sectors. John works closely with FEG’s Portfolio Management Team to identify opportunities that support portfolio construction and long-term investment objectives.
Prior to joining FEG, John worked for Novogradac & Company and JLL, providing valuation and advisory services to real estate owners, operators, and developers. His background in real estate valuation, market analysis, and advisory services provides a strong foundation for evaluating investment opportunities across the real assets landscape. Based in Dallas, John also leads many of FEG’s relationships with Texas-based investment managers and maintains close connections within the regional investment community.
John earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Master of Science in Economic Data Analytics from the University of Texas at Arlington. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations. Outside of work, John is active in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish and enjoys playing tennis and following Dallas-area sports teams.
