Fixed Income Internship

Position Summary

The fixed income co-op will report to the Senior Vice President/Director of Global Fixed Income and Credit and the Senior Research Analyst - Fixed Income. The position entails a one or two-quarter commitment by the candidate and the requirement of 40 hours/week.

Strong analytical and written communication skills, as well as a sense of intellectual curiosity, are critical. The co-op will gain exposure to a myriad of assets classes including: Publicly-traded fixed income markets (Treasuries, mortgages, corporate bonds, bank loans, etc.), credit hedge funds, and special situations (distressed, mezzanine debt, etc.). The position will also involve interaction with the broader research team at Fund Evaluation Group.


Position Responsibilities

  • Attend investment manager meetings in conjunction with members of the Fixed Income team and write summary notes and analysis of meetings
  • Assist in authoring portion of Capital Markets Overview and Quarterly Market Summary
  • Assist Senior Research Analyst with creation of weekly presentations using fixed income and economic data
  • Update educational research presentations
  • Assist in management of information in FEG’s internal manager database
  • Assist in authoring of monthly Fixed Income Research Review

Internal Sales Associate

Position Summary

The Internal Sales Associate is responsible for supporting FEG external sales professionals with the goal of generating new sales and asset growth through relationships with financial advisers affiliated with independent broker dealers, banks, insurance companies and RIAs. The position reports to the Head of Sales and Marketing for FEG.

The FEG Managed Portfolios product suite includes a range of turn-key portfolio solutions constructed with ETF’s and institutional mutual funds along with a dynamic asset allocation overlay. FEG also markets alternative investment solutions including hedge fund of funds. FEG Managed Portfolios are available through various platforms including Envestnet, Schwab, Fidelity, TD Ameritrade, FolioDynamix and independent broker dealers’ proprietary platforms.

Position Responsibilities

Overall support for FEG external sales professionals, including acting as the coordination point with FEG home office functions such as marketing, client service and investment research. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Sales prospecting activities including:
    • Outbound calls
    • Prospect profiling and identification
    • Scheduling appointments
    • Mailings
    • E-distribution
  • Maintain and update business development activity in contact data base.
  • Provide marketing materials to FEG salespeople, clients and prospects.
    • Develop sales presentations and proposals working with FEG marketing and sales support team.
    • Provide support for sales and marketing conferences, including marketing materials and logistics. Attend certain conference events.

Qualifications

Proven record of sales related accomplishments, including over three years of successful internal financial sales experience.

Investment Marketing Specialist

Position Summary

The Investment Marketing Specialist position is responsible for researching clients, developing value propositions, and crafting custom presentations to acquire new clients. This position requires the associate to coordinate team members from all levels of the organization, including consultants and sales representatives. Candidate must possess broad investment knowledge, and excellent communication, organization, and project management skills. This position will expose the right candidate to multiple facets in a fast-growing firm and has long-term career opportunities.

Position Responsibilities

  • Research prospective and existing client opportunities, utilizing web searches, database subscriptions, and internal databases.
  • Facilitate information gathering and relationship building with prospective and existing clients.
  • Develop presentation strategy based on client needs and competitive landscape.
    Lead varying teams of Consultants, Consulting Analysts, and Sales and Marketing professionals towards delivering custom and unified message.
  • Schedule and enforce practice sessions, incorporating external consultants and coaches.
  • Create (coordinate the creation of) custom materials for presentations.
  • Collect client feedback, and implement findings into future presentation strategy.
  • Ascertain presentation training needs and co-lead training programs.
  • Interact with clients as needed, and attend relevant client presentations.
  • Report and analyze metrics weekly, including sales pipeline, overall win rates, consultant win rates, industry trends, and achievement of revenue goals. Recommend corrective actions.
  • Apply presentation process to FEG presentations at FEG Investment Forums.

Performance Analyst

Position Summary

The Performance Analyst is responsible for managing the performance reporting needs for a group of consultant teams. The position requires the ability to identify problems and resolve them accurately and timely, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with investment managers and custodians. The responsibilities include monthly history completion, performance reconciliation and project work with the consultant teams. The position reports to the Vice President of Client Service.

Research Analyst - Private Equity

Position Summary

FEG is seeking an investment professional for its private equity research team. The position will participate in sourcing, screening, conducting due diligence, recommending, and monitoring private equity investment funds. Strong analytical and communications skills are critical along with a minimum two years’ experience with investments, preferably with private funds. The position will interact with other functional groups within FEG including consulting, reporting, and the broader research team. The position will report to the Director of Private Equity.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work with the private equity team to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis on private equity funds and/or fund of funds.
    • Analyze fund-level performance, perform performance attribution, and review terms.
    • Monitor recommended funds through financial statement review, performance comparisons, calls, and meetings.
    • Manage and generate reports using proprietary models and databases; and conduct industry and/or sector research.
  • Oversee a private capital implementation model to guide clients on the timing and size of commitments to reach and maintain desired private capital asset allocation.
  • Assist with other financial modeling including various valuation models.
  • Support the development of research presentations and publications in various forms, including manager research reports, educational presentations, and position pieces for the broader research team, consultants, and clients.
  • Work effectively and closely with broader research team, consultants, and client service professionals to support recommendations to FEG’s Investment Policy Committee consistent with FEG’s investment philosophy.
  • Some travel may be required.

 

Core Competencies & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, CFA designation and/or MBA is a plus
  • Experience: 3-5 plus years’ experience in the investment management industry
  • Required Skills: Detail-oriented, possess excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently

SQL Database Administrator / Developer: SSIS, SSAS, SSRS

Position Summary

SQL Database Administrator/Developer will work as an extension of the Information Technology Department collecting end users’ data needs and assist in converting those needs into Business Intelligence solutions ranging from traditional SSRS reporting to interactive dashboard solutions derived from our Microsoft SQL Data Warehouse. Candidate should possess strong SQL skills with experience in SSAS development.

Position Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this position will be in the development and maintenance of business intelligence applications and systems to enhance decision making capabilities within the firm. The individual will work with end users to analyze business systems and assist in documenting any requests identified. The person will also assist in helping end users resolve general technical problems. This position will work closely with the Data Warehouse Manager to ensure overall database structure.

Qualifications

A familiarity with Business Intelligence concepts and practices, knowledge of relational databases, dimensional modeling, client-server design, network architecture and related tools is required. This position will require 3-6 years of experience in a related field. A bachelor's degree is preferred for this position.
