Gregory Greg M. Dowling, CFA, CAIA

Head of Research / Chief Investment Officer

Greg Dowling serves as FEG’s chief investment officer and head of research. He is responsible for the day-to-day management of the research team and also chairs the firm's investment committee that oversees all manager hire and fire decisions and approves all capital market assumptions.
Greg joined FEG in 2004 and has become known for his strong work ethic and forward-thinking mindset. Since 2014, he has also worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati, teaching graduate courses on risk management and alternative investments. The University of Cincinnati is Greg’s alma mater, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Later, he earned his Master of Business Administration from Xavier University. Before joining FEG, Greg worked as a financial analyst with Firstar Bank—now known as US Bank—providing analytical support for commercial lending. He then assumed the role of vice president at Bowling Portfolio Management. He was a member of the firm’s Investment Committee, managed trading operations, and worked directly with the CIO to provide investment research and analysis.

In addition to his work with the research team, Greg is a member of the firm's leadership team. Greg is also the former chair of the FEG Risk Management Committee and is a CFA Society of Cincinnati member. Finally, Greg holds both the CFA and CAIA charters.

When Greg is not supporting his team members, you will most likely see him traveling and spending time with his wife and three kids. One of his favorite hobbies outside of work is playing ice hockey. It is a guarantee that you will see Greg lacing up his skates to play competitive games with friends at the Indian Hill Winter Club at Camp Dennison, although his favorite hockey event is the FEG Hockey Classic, where FEG employees and affiliated investment managers square off to raise funds for the Cincinnati IceBreakers, an organization that offers sled hockey for youth and adults with physical disabilities.
