FEG Summer Book Club Webinar

We are pleased to invite you to join us virtually for a book club discussion on FEG's Summer Book Club pick—The Power Law, by Sebastian Mallaby.

The webinar will feature two managers from firms mentioned in the book who will give us the insider's perspective—what The Power Law got right and wrong—as well as provide general comments on the venture capital industry. FEG's Director of Private Equity, Nathan Werner, will lead the panel discussion featuring Hans Tung from GGV Capital and Venky Ganesan from Menlo Ventures.

Hans Tung

HANS TUNG

Managing Partner, GGV Capital

Hans Tung is a Managing Partner at GGV Capital, focusing on early-stage investments across the global digital economy ecosystem. He is consistently recognized among the top venture capital investors in the world, having been named to the Forbes Midas list 10 consecutive years from 2013-2022, most recently ranking #6. Hans oversees the GGV’s DE&I initiatives, and he is also the co-host of the popular podcast, “Evolving for the Next Billion” on entrepreneurship in the U.S., China, India, SE Asia, and Latin America.

His portfolio includes 18 unicorns, many of them invested at an early stage, now valued at more than $1 billion. Hans’ global portfolio at GGV spans six cities across the U.S. as well as three continents. Hans attended Stanford University, graduating with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering.

VENKY GANESAN

Partner, Menlo Ventures

Venky is a partner at Menlo Ventures focused on investments in both the consumer and enterprise sectors. He currently serves on the boards of BitSight, Rover, and Unravel Data, among others. Prior to joining Menlo, he was a managing partner at Globespan Capital Partners. He was recognized on the Forbes Midas List from 2013–2015.

Prior to Globespan, Venky was one of the founders of Trigo Technologies and played a critical part in building Trigo into the market leader in the product information management space. IBM acquired the company resulting in a substantial return for all investors. Venky holds a bachelor of arts in mathematics–economics from Reed College and a bachelor of science in engineering and applied science, with honors, from the California Institute of Technology. He is currently a Trustee of Castilleja School.

NATHAN WERNER

Senior Vice President, Director of Private Equity, FEG

Nathan is senior vice president and director of private equity at Fund Evaluation Group, LLC (FEG). In his current role, he is responsible for conducting investment manager due diligence, client education, and support, and analysis of the private equity markets.

Nathan leads FEG’s sourcing efforts to discover and access private equity funds that could benefit client portfolios. He serves on the limited partner advisory committees for more than a dozen private equity funds, both in the U.S. and Europe including strategies for life science venture capital, technology-related venture capital, small buyout funds, and turnaround funds.
